To Be With You, Mr. Big, 1991
How funny. There's no denying my earworm this morning, y'all ... it's playing loud and proud all up in my head in all its early 90s power pop glory. I'm not mad -- "To Be With You" is a catchy little song. It's all big and cheesy and memorable, obvi.
The "little girl" lines ring somewhat misogynistic for my taste but the song's story is pretty juvenile so I give it a pass. It makes for a good melodramatic air sing for sure. I'm down for that so let me lean into this morning vibe. Oh yeah. Now, stand aside while I grab my hairbrush and sing along. It's OK, just look away and roll your eyes.
Can't question the earworm gods, y'all, but I don't understand why my subconcious is spinning this tune right now. After days of having a Jeff Buckley song stuck in head, I am dumbfounded to wake up with this catchy little one hit wonder owning my headspace instead of "So Real" giving me pause.
This is going to bother me -- what in the world is the source of this earworm coming out of left field? Ahh -- Mr. Big -- maybe that's the source. I did partake in a discussion about the all-time worst fictional boyfriends. Yeah. Hello, Mr. Big. That's funny. You just never know what's going to manifest into an earworm. Love it!
