I Wanna Be Your Dog, The Stooges, 1969
Oh Uncle Iggy, you know me so well. "I Wanna Be Your Dog's" sick heavy intro riff is reaching down deep in my soul shaking me awake from a long deep slumber. It's easy to figure why "I Wanna Be Your Dog" is obviously today's theme song. The universe's message is pretty cut and dry, right?
I get it, it's time to admit ... Iggy's telling me I may be ready to love again, y'all. Hold up, hold up -- it's also entirely possible that I may not be ready to love again. At least The Stooges are with me this morning to convince me that the idea of love is absolutely back on the table. No denying the power of punk.
Good grief, Charlie Brown! I love this song so much. Its primal message of companionship is hitting me pretty hard right about now. How weird is it that my psyche is so in tune with all my repressed desires? On second thought, maybe that's not weird at all. Maybe that's exactly how the mind and nature is supposed to work. Hmmmm.
Listen, I love who I was. Yes, I love every single thing I have been so far in this life. No regrets, only weathering storms and growth. Choices. I love who I am now, too. I love who I will be in the future and it doesn't make me any less of a strong independent woman to ache for (need and want) my romantic soulmate, right. There. I said it.
Hey. Do you wanna be my dog?
Happy Monday!
