Bringin' on the Heartbreak, Def Leppard, 1981
There's a chill in the house this morning -- fall is definitely in the air. I love that my favorite Def Leppard song is stirring me awake. "Bringin' on the Heartbreak" is an eerie-sounding song perfect for these spookiest of days.
"Gypsy, sittin' lookin' pretty. The broken rose with laughin' eyes." Ahh, sing it, Joe. I am the gypsy and I love this song so much. It's still one of my all-time favorite songs. I'll never forget the first time I heard it/saw the video -- thank you, Mtv. This is what the early 1980s sounds like to me. I wish everyone could experience "discovering" new music pre-internet. I wish everyone could live in the Mtv era for just one day.
Def leppard came into my life when I was just a kid. Doing the math tells me I was a pre-teen. I was the girl scrawling all the band names on her notebook, y'all. Def Leppard, Metallica, Van Halen, G N' R, Scorpions, Anthrax ... I was that girl. This song had me and I fell hard for Def Leppard. The music holds up well, too.
It's absolutely a "High n' Dry" Saturday.
