Little Trouble Girl, Sonic Youth, 1995
So, me and Sonic Youth aren't ride or die besties. Far from it ... we're friends but it's on a song-by-song basis. Yeah, our friendship is definitely conditional. I just don't like all their stuff. Sometimes, I wish I did because it seems like the cool thing to do but I guess I'm just not that cool. Nope. I'm not cool girl, I'm little trouble girl. See what I did there?
I do really love Kim Gordon -- always have. She's an innovative artist with style and grit. The SY songs I love are pretty much all Kim songs. BTW, I love this song and I bet you know why. You hear the why, right? It's pretty obvious. There's a Kim Deal factor that pushes this song over the top for me. So many great lines, too. "You'll never know what I feel inside. I'm really bad."
How can it be true that SY's Washing Machine is 30 years old? How can it be true that my youngest child is 30 years old? It's so funny, he's turned into a pretty big Sonic Youth fan and I love that for him. I love it for me, too, because I've sort of been giving them a second shot. Just like taste buds, do our auditory canals change with time, too?
Also, is romance a ticket to paradise? All the questions.
