Not My Idea, Garbage, 1995

Just a few days ago, I was standing (maybe?) three feet away from one of my living/breathing contemporary heroes -- Shirley MFing Manson! It's true, I lost it a little ... over and over and over. I'm not ashamed to say: I cried a lot -- like a lot, a lot. I smiled so much that my face was sore. I still can't believe any of it actually happened.

"This is not my idea of a good time" hit me hard. Choosing a standing-only concert experience made me nervous. Then, adding a VIP package with an early start to the standing time really caused me anxiety. Old people speak -- that much standing (at my age 😁) was not my idea of a good time. Lol. Always say, "yes," to live music, though, friends. That IS my idea of a good time.

It was only my second time seeing Garbage live and it was my first VIP experience with the band due to, ugh, life. To say it was surreal would be a gross understatement. To say the experience exceeded my expectations would be ludicrous. It was everything. Riding the rail for seriously almost five hours was grueling but it was worth it. I looked into the eyes of Shirley Manson too many times to count and she saw me. Music brings people together. Find your people, friends.

Have a very Garbage Saturday!
