Push It, Garbage, 1998
This is the noise that keeps me awake at night. Or, more importantly, this is the noise waking me up this morning. More days than not, my head explodes and my body aches but maybe I can do another Monday after all. Sing it, Shirley. Thank you, Garbage.
I listened to a lot of Garbage this weekend. Starcrawler, too. I love to pregame concerts. Two more sleeps until I once again stand face-to-face with one of the greatest living rock queens. Shirley Manson is hands down one of the best frontmen to ever grace a stage. Not just that, Shirley is goals, friends. Fight me on it.
I cannot overstate Shirley's importance in my life. For some of you, I know it's difficult to relate to but successful career women of a certain age worthy of hero worship are an endangered species. Not only is Shirley outstanding at her job, which just happens to be "rockstar," she's also an outspoken humanitarian and an unapologetic "older/aging" woman.
Yeah, Shirley MFing Manson! Oh and, btw, she's also part of a megaband that's been together 30+ years and is STILL making music with substance. So excited to see Garbage in a small, intimate venue. Preparing to be shook. Plus, one of my favorites, Nicole Florentino, is the band's touring bassist right now. Sweet.
Happy Monday!
