Sweet Emotion, Aerosmith, 1975
Isn't this one of the greatest intros ever? The answer is, "Yes." Don't even think about denying the greatness of this intro. It's simply not up for discussion -- the Sweet Emotion intro sounds like the 70s. Yes. This is a classic song by a legendary band with one of the most iconic intros ever. It's so very groovy. Cool cool cool.
The math doesn't lie, y'all. I was 4 when this song came out. Hmm. So, the truth is: I've never not known this song. Sounds about right. It's so weird to think about how I knew this song before I knew Aerosmith. You get what I'm saying, right?
Radio raised me but Mtv was my favorite teacher. Aerosmith is so special to me. Give credit where credit is due -- Steven, Joe and the boys made some groundbreaking, visionary music (art), y'all. Aerosmith is one of those few 1970s bands/artists that crossed the rock radio threshold into the Mtv land of the 80s and early 90s and literally made history. All hail Aerosmith.
Muscle Shoals Meets the 70s is just 10 days away and I'm so excited by the thought of witnessing the Fiddleworms and friends work their magic with this song. A special song for a very special occasion ... two nights, two sets, two playgrounds, one community, y'all.
See you at the rock show.
