Fade to Black, Metallica, 1984

Metallica is one of my lifelong loves. This song is one of my lifelong loves, too. I'm so happy it's with me this morning. This song about death makes me appreciate life. BTW, count yourselves lucky that I don't talk about Metallica every waking hour of every day. You're welcome.

Here's a bold and unwavering proclamation: The most attractive being in the world to me is a well-read, sensitive, and humble guitar god who is seemingly oblivious to the fact that he rules the world. I see you, Kirk Hammett. I feel you, Kirk Hammett. I thank you, Kirk Hammett.

Not all metal is equal, friends. Metallica's metal is not even in the same universe as ALL other metal. Period. I said what I said. Metallica is narrative-driven and symphonic. Metallica is deep and emotional. Metallica is art portraying the universal truth of the human condition. Absolute poetry, friends. Give me an hour alone in a room with you and Metallica's music and I promise, you'll emerge enlightened.

Metallica is a dealbreaker band for me. We can't be friends if you can't appreciate Metallica. What's one of your dealbreaker bands?

Happy Saturday!
