The Thing That Should Not Be, Metallica, 1986
I woke up lovingly wrapped in the gloriously sinister arms of The Thing That Should Not Be. It's a treat having this stunning beauty occupying my headspace. I must be living right, y'all. This song's undeniably powerful energy has me ready to take on the world. Best believe, I'll do it, too. Immortal. In madness you dwell.
What a super great, super special, crazy nostalgic and exciting long weekend of music, friends. First, it was the Oasis tour kickoff Friday and then Saturday night, there was the Back to the Beginning Black Sabbath/Ozzy farewell celebration. Yeah. I'm still all in my feels. God I love music. God I love Metallica. God I love Kirk Hammett.
Metallica is my loyal ride or die companion of 40+ years now. Metallica is my consistent reminder that love me or hate me, I'm still going to be me. You know what I'm saying? Yes, I know there are truths about me that make me an acquired taste. One such truth -- or character flaw, if you prefer 😀 -- is: I don't do forced or fake modesty. Hell, I'm not much on forced or fake anything, actually.
Speaking of the thing that should not be ... hello Monday -- ugh, stupid work. Let's do this.
