Minerva, Deftones, 2003

Well, hello there, Minerva. What are you doing here in my head? I admit, this song scares me a little, y'all. Sure, it's one of the most perfectly haunting "good-byes" ever written but it's so much more than that to me. Minerva lives in my heart and soul and feels like a harbinger.

Minerva is my good-bye. I know that for sure -- I knew that at first listen. "I get all numb when she sings it's over" ... "God bless you all for the song you sang us." If that's not the most perfect adieu, I don't know what is, y'all. Who's paying attention? Not to be morbid but Minerva is my final curtain call. When the time comes, somebody make that happen, please.

Having Minerva with me this a.m. has me nervous. It's unsettling. Is my subconcious preparing me for some big good-bye? Maybe this earworm is more about bringing back "peace to Earth?" Yeah. Let's go with that interpretation.

Happy Monday!
