A Hero's Death, Fontaines D.C., 2020

So, the universe is pushing me to adopt this as my walk-up song. Yeah, OK. That sounds good. Done. I'll be referring to myself in the third person from now on, too. Yep. Emmy's done playing around and this song is her new playbook for living life.

I love this song so much. Its cadence is everything. A Hero's Death presents just like a mantra. Not just any old tired mantra, though, it's this mantra: Life ain't always empty. Powerful. Perfect.

A Hero's Death is filled with simple, yet profound, truths. This song reminds me that life is what we make of it. Life is to be lived right up until that nanosecond when it stops. Listen to this song, y'all. Really hear these lyrics. Really live these lyrics. Start living a hero's death today -- that's on you, friends.

Falling in love with Fontaines D.C. was one of the best parts of this past year. Theirs is a truly great catalog. It's pretty impressive how every single song is so different and still so good. They have a no holds barred approach to making music that is vibrant and honest and exhilarating. Give them a chance, y'all, you won't be sorry.

Happy Monday!
