Down to be wrong, Haim, 2025
How is it true that Haim has been making music for almost 20 years? I admit, I haven't always been on the Haim train. I liked them a whole bunch when they first came on the scene but along the way, they just lost their luster to me. Don't get me wrong, they've always been exceptionally cool and talented females but as a band, their sound just did nothing for me in recent years.
I'll tell you what, though, I am so in love with this new song. "Down to be wrong" dropped Thursday and instantly attached itself to me. To be honest, I'm not even sure how this song reached my ears but I'm so glad it did. Hearing this was like meeting these phenomenal sisters for the (second) first time. Good stuff.
This song sounds like summer. This song sounds like freedom. I love how it starts with Alana low-key growling at me -- "down to be wrong, don't need to be right." I feel that, sister. Ahh, I get it now. That's why this song lodged itself in my brain. "Down to be wrong, don't need to be right" is the truth I'm living lately. Yes.
Btw, I love how Danielle drums like a fiend. I love how she sings ugly, too. You know what I mean? She straight up stank face sangs, y'all. I love love love that about her. Do I love every song by Haim? No. Do I love Haim, though? Well, yeah I do. Duh. This is a really good song with a great message and some really good lines.
Happy Saturday!
