I Say a Little Prayer, Dionne Warwick, 1969


The thunderstorms have me awake way too early on a Saturday morning. My subconcious is showing out on top of that, too. I can't get this song out of my head. It's a great song -- all hail Burt Bacharach! It's just, having it ringing in my ears is a little too unsettling while white-knuckling through severe weather threats.


Truthfully, this song is perfect for right here and right now. "The moment I wake up before I put on my makeup, I say a little prayer for you." That's me -- saying a prayer for all of us. This weather is going to keep us on our toes today.


I've always loved this song but I've never had it hold my hand through a literal storm. Dionne's version is my go-to -- is there anything better than her husky, warm voice? She has wooed me and held me and comforted me through many of life's storms but this is a first. Bring it on home, Dionne!
