Seattle, Public Image Ltd (PiL), 1987

Why is this song in my head this morning? What in the world? It's as if I'm witnessing the big reveal of every (fictitious ?) apocalyptic movie's backstory while this song plays. Get out of my world.

I need an escape. Just like most "old heads," it doesn't take much to flip my wax nostalgic switch. Whether it's reminiscing about my youth or my days at the TimesDaily (you know I was a journalist for 20 years, right? DRINK 🙃) or me cranking some beloved 80s tunes, I turn to times past to soothe me. Sometimes, that turncoat disruptor Johnny Rotten makes an appearance but Johnny Rotten Cash is more my kind of people these days. "Shut the hell up."

I am so fortunate to live in a tiny pocket of the world that revels in its rich music history. Not just that but it's a community that comes together and celebrates life via live music experiences. Mix together those super special ingredients, stir in some Fiddleworms, and pepper it with full-on 1980s awesomeness and you have the recipe that the "Muscle Shoals Meets gang" will use to cook up some good ole comfort rock tonight at the historic Princess Theater in Decatur, Ala. Count me in!

See you at the rock show!

PS: Dig worms, y'all.
