All Day and All of the Night, The Kinks, 1964

This is one of my top five favorite openings of a song ever. These harmonies are smooth like butter, too. The guitar licks and dreamy harmonies paired with that choppy, sassy delivery is forever iconic. My my my at that punk rock Kinks kick. Bow down. What a great great great song. Now, this deserves to be in my headspace. Yes, please.

The Kinks being with me makes me feel super nostalgic. How did I get here? Where is here? Why are The Kinks so f*cking cool? I have all the questions, y'all, and no answers. What's new, right? Some things never change, though -- "the only time I feel alright is by your side." Such a tragic truth of my life. Thanks Ray, for reminding me of the void. "Leave me never."

Ugh. I am so very not the "all day and all of the night" girl anymore. I lived like that for a very long time but I blinked and became an old lady. Yep. Beware. Time is a stealthy thief. True story -- it happened to me. I can't even believe all the old lady stuff I said out loud at work this week. Words fall out of my face and I hear myself spouting old lady nonsense -- cringe. Why, universe? Why? Old lady be gone. Bring back the "all day and all of the night" girl? Yeah?

Hello, Saturday!
