Oh Sheila, Ready for the World, 1985

Just woke from a bad dream. I distinctly remember this song blaring over the speakers. I see you (and hear you) universe -- so ... is this how today's gonna go down?

In my dream, it was back in the day at the skating rink. Somehow, I ended up there sans friends. They had all left with their older boyfriends and what not and hadn't made it back, yet, and it was getting late. (Yeah, classic role reversal nightmare.) I wasn't wearing a watch but I was sure it was getting close to time for my friend's dad to pick us up. There would be hell to pay if he showed up to get our middle school asses and everyone was elsewhere. I had no idea where they were and I couldn't call them to find out. Not fun. Any other old people have anxiety-induced nightmares about our pre-technology age past lives?

This song playing in that dream is super unsettling. It's a little funny, I guess, but seriously, WTF, universe? Me and this song go way back -- well, back to 1985. We have a history but I haven't thought of it in years. My my my. Ready for the World = the soundtrack to me doing things I shouldn't be doing. Is the universe telling me to go forth as if I'm young and dumb? Hmmm.

Happy Saturday!
