Brace yourselves. Kim Deal finally released a solo album. Not only that -- it's good, y'all. It's really, really good. So good that I can breathe a sigh of relief for her. So good that I can barely contain my excitement for her. At 63, Kim, is proving what I've known to be true for the past three decades -- if we so desire, we can live multiple lives during our time on this planet.

Kim's new album being good gave me a great big dose of renewed optimism in pretty much everything. Granted, Kim has hero-status with me and can do no wrong -- Pixies gonna pixie. I was on board with her new solo project from the get go with no questions asked but quite frankly, my expectations were low. Sure, I've been digging on the three pre-release singles and even if those tracks were the only shining stars on Kim's full-length album, I would've been satisfied. After several complete listens, though, the promo singles are my least favorites. Expectations exceeded.

This past week was a doozy and now here we are with the holidays looming. New release Friday gave me a much needed shot of auditory adrenaline to pick me up, dust me off, and throw me back into the game. Thank you, Kim, and hello Monday!
