Satellite, Guster, 2006

"Are you what I think you are?" The opening verse of  Satellite is so beautiful, y'all. This entire song is an easy, simple metaphor that proves both the power and complexity of mere words. Sure, the phrase technically states a fact: "you're my satellite" but the delivery conveys a playful and somewhat questioning longing. When it repeats in my head like it's doing right now, it's even chant-like and so very mesmerizing. Coaxing.

This is the theme song for my next great love. Yep. That's my bold declaration for the day. I can see the whole falling in love thing playing out again at some point. Yeah, when I envision myself falling in love again, Satellite is the song I hear moving my story forward.

So, here's an odd tidbit about me -- I dream about Tyler Blackburn pretty often. "How often is pretty often?" you ask. Probably, on average, about once or twice a month. Sometimes, I remember snippets of the dreams and other times, I just have a knowing sense that I dreamed of him. You may wonder -- why him? I wonder the same thing. Another weird truth is, I equate this song with Tyler Blackburn and I'm not sure why. Yeah. You only thought you knew me.

Happy Monday!
