I Want You for Christmas, Cheap Trick, 2012
Well, it finally happened ... I heard the absolute worst Christmas song ever. It was kind of great, though, because its suckage was so shocking that it sparked a no holds barred wtf-inspired laughfest during the drive back from my uncle's yesterday.
This little jewel had me and my boys literally asking, "Is this for real? Is this really happening right now?" It qualifies as the most, "Wow. I can't unhear this moment" in recent memory for sure. I will say this, though, hearing it for the first time definitely made Christmas Eve 2023 more memorable that's for sure.
Seriously. Just, why? Why? Lord knows I don't care for Cheap Trick at all but I thought they had more dignity than this. I guess I was wrong. There's no coming back from this shameless pandering. Bless them. What a remarkable jump the shark moment in music at the hands of the capitalist Christmas charade. 😁
