Amish Paradise, Weird Al Yankovic, 1996


Nothing good comes from taking yourself too seriously all the time. Back in the late 1970s/early 1980s, Weird Al Yankovic started teaching a rising generation that all important lesson of -- sometimes you just gotta laugh.


Weird Al's clever parodies were and still are next level. This one is still my all-time favorite. The videos, y'all, are so perfect -- this one especially.


Weird Al is a unicorn -- a very talented and brilliant unicorn making the world a better place by forcing us all to lighten up. For me (my generation), he has been a mainstay -- he's like a cool, quirky uncle we look forward to seeing on special occasions. I think it's so cool that Weird Al is still touring -- he was in Huntsville just this weekend. Seriously, why isn't he in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame? What a joke, right?
