Balloonerism, Mac Miller, 2025
Yesterday was maybe the most happy sad day ever. In the sad column: Three of my favorite people will no longer be my coworkers. In the happy and sad column: They're all moving on to better opportunities and I am genuinely happy for them/crazy sad for me. In the happy column: A new Mac Miller album -- Balloonerism-- dropped from heaven.
"Well, my good days are just like the bad ones." Preach, my precious Mac. That line is from Manakins -- one of my favorite tracks after these initial listens. So good. So haunting -- Mac singing about the end ... Mac waxing poetic about death back in 2014. A higher plane of connectivity, y'all.
Oh my heart, Mac. This is our second posthumous gift and I can't stop listening to it -- I don't want to stop listening. There's something about Mac that makes me hear better. It's more than literally listening. I hear all that Mac's saying with my entire being. Hearing = feeling.
Every single track is next level but 5 Dollar Pony Rides is my favorite track right now. "She don't know she slept through the future. Missed it. It was yesterday." Yes, Mac. How is it he eternally knows me so well?
Oh, btw, watch the Balloonerism companion "movie" on Prime. It's complete sensory satisfaction. Just like life, it's visual and auditory -- it's ethereal and entertaining ... and it's just so very fresh and groovy. Mac forever, my friends.
